Mixtape Monday Volume XX – “Do You Want”

volume20

Good Morning everyone, let’s roll into another Monday morning with this weeks Mixtape Monday, Volume XX – “Do You Want”. It’s been a crazy week out here in the Bay, a lot of amazing music has been floating through my ears, and the R&B groove has definitely caught onto me more than usual, maybe it’s because I’ve spent a fair amount of time around some of the most fantastic singers of late. The lineup that truly caught my attention this week consists of J.Cole, D’Angelo, Alabama Shakes, Robert Glasper, yasiin bey (Mos Def), Erykah Badu, Jaguar Wright, Floetry, Lushlife, Killer Mike, Young Fathers, Phony Ppl (Courtesy of the homie Bomani), Biggie, Common, Taylor Bennett and Chance the Rapper.

Mixtape Monday is back with Volume XIX – “Five Stars”. We’ve only gone through a few weeks of 2016 and already both personally, and publicly, they’ve been filled with loss. Just this last week I lost my great Uncle Al Hart, a well known radio figure in the California once known for being the voice of KCBS radio. He was always a beloved member of our family, known for his heart and kindness, his willingness to give anyone his time, support, and appreciation.

It was not known to me how far his love reached until the day of his passing. We don’t do that anymore, we don’t build careers, relationships, or even start minor social interactions with profoundly simple acts of kindness and love. I would love to move myself, my morals, my image and my heart closer to the shadow that Al left for us.

With that poorly put together thought on where I’m and we’re going let’s ride into this weeks Mixtape, the first of the year. Dedicated to Al, and the other friends, fam, musicians, etc, that we’ve lost but left a meaningful positive impact on our lives. And those that continue to do so.
